LEGISLATIVE
LOBBYING, LEGISLATIVE MONITORING, LEGISLATIVE
REPRESENTATION
ASPA's
Legislative Committee is in diligent in their
vigilance of the legislative process at the Capitol.
Working with their lobbyist in this effort, they
are constantly on watch for legislation that would
pose a threat to the practitioner in Arizona.

YELLOW PAGES ADVERTISING
Local
yellow page advertising is available for ASPA
members in chapters outside the metropolitan areas
of Phoenix and Tucson. If you are a member of

LOCAL
CHAPTERS
ASPA's
chapters meet on a monthly basis and provide continuing
professional education (CPE) for their members
while offering networking opportunities for members.
ASPA has chapters in Cochise, East Valley, Mohave,
Phoenix, Prescott and Tucson. Refer to the Chapters
section of this web-site for information on the
chapter that is nearest you.
SEMINARS
ASPA
provides professional programs that help improve
the quality of services provided by professionals.
Seminars are offered to ASPA members at a reduced
rate. This saving will more than offset the amount
of dues. Active membership in ASPA requires that
members obtain 80 hours of CPE in a two-year period.
Additional CPE is available through chapters at
monthly meetings, chapter workshops and study
groups.
During
seminars the Society will present a trade show
for the accounting profession. This will enable
you to check out the latest software, supplies
and service available while manufacturer's representatives
demonstrate products in a hands-on environment.
NATIONAL
SOCIETY OF ACCOUNTANTS AFFILIATION
Arizona
Society of Practicing Accountants is the state
affiliate of the National Society of Accountants
(NSA). The National Society of Accountants is
a professional organization with more than 17,000
members who provide auditing, accounting and tax
preparation, financial and estate planning and
management services to approximately 4 million
individuals and business clients. NSA offers many
services, which include but are not limited to,
tax research assistance, conferences and cpe programs.
NSA's credentialing arm is the Accreditation Council
for Accountancy and Taxation (ACAT). ACAT credentials
include Accredited Business Accountant (ABA),
Accredited Tax Advisor (ATA) and Accredited Tax
Preparer (ATP). Study courses are available to
assist in preparation for the ACAT ABA exam.
MEMBER
OF AFIT
ASPA
is a member of Arizona Forum for the Improvement
of Taxation (AFIT). AFIT is a coalition of the
Arizona Bar, Arizona Society of Enrolled Agents,
Arizona Society of Practicing Accountants, and
the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants
with liaison from the Internal Revenue Service,
the Arizona Department of Revenue, and the City
of Phoenix. In addition to sponsoring educational
programs with varied government input, AFIT committees
with representatives from all the member groups
meet monthly to discuss filing, collection and
examination issues.

ASPA's
bi-monthly newsletter, The Roundup, provides a
wealth of information in areas of Arizona State
Board Monitoring reports, news from the National
Society of Accountants, updates and calendars
on society functions and developments affecting
your practice.
